About Me
A List of My Favorite Movies
1. Pulp Fiction
Director: Quentin Tarantino
Actor: Samuel L. Jackson
Synopsis: Pulp Fiction is a movie with seven narrative sequences ordered chronologically. There are three main interrelated stories. The story begins with a robbery at a diner, then it develops the story of three main characters (Vincent, Jules, and Butch), then returns to conclude the robbery of the diner.
Review: In my opinion, this is one of my favorite movies due to the unique structuring of the story.
2. Pineapple Express
Director: David Gordon Green
Actor: Seth Rogen
Synopsis: Pineapple Express begins with the main protagonist, Dale Denton, purchasing marijuana from his dealer, Saul Silver. After conversing with his dealer, both of them go to Saul's next customer, Ted Jones. Outside of Ted's house, they witness the death of a man. Both Saul and Dale leave in a panic, and left behind their rare strain of marijuana, Pineapple Express. Afterwards, Ted sends his henchmen to kill them for seeing his crime. Both of them make an attempt to flee the city, however they fail. Together (and with the help of a Chinese Mafia), they are safe, and take down Ted.
Review: This is one of my go-to movies for humor. The combination of the story and actors blends perfectly for me, and makes it a timeless movie for myself.
3. Avengers Infinity War
Directors: Joe and Anthony Russo
Actor: Robert Downey Jr.
Synopsis: The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk team up to defeat their greatest enemy: Thanos. All of them are on a mission to prevent Thanos from aquiring the six infinity stones. With the Infinity Stones, Thanos will be able to create his own reality.
Review; As one of the biggest movie crossovers, I was not disappointed with the quality and content of Avengers Infinity War. All the characters had developed throughout the story and their intentions were clear. This movie has made me eager to see future Marvel movies.
4. Black Panther
Director: Ryan Coogler
Actor: Michael B. Jordan
Prince T'Challa returns home to Wakanda after the recent death of his father. As he is taking his position as king, Killmonger, his enemy, appears to challenge the throne. Both of them fight out to see who is the rightful owner of the throne.
Review: This was another Marvel movie that made it onto my list. This was my first movie where I was interested in the story, and this eventually influenced me to watch it with my friends. There is great combat between Killmonger and T'Challa, and the story progresses clearly. Their home, Wakanda, was also a place that made the watchers feel immersed in the story.
5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Director: Alfonso Cuaron
Actor: Daniel Radcliffe
Harry Potter spends another miserable summer with the Dursleys, and returns to Hogwarts for his third year. This year, there are dementors outside of the campus, protecting the students from a killer that escaped from the Prison of Azkaban, Sirius Black. As Harry continues his education at Hogwarts, he learns the significance of Werewolves, and this alludes to the fact that the professor, Remus Lupin, was a werewolf. Lupin and Black were connected, and Remus helped him get into the campus to speak to Harry, who was under the belief that a killer was after him. In the end, he learns the significance of Black, and learns that he was a close friend with his father.
Review: If there was one Harry Potter movie that I can watch endlessly, I would pick Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. As all seven movies progressed, the viewers grew with Ron, Hermoine, and Harry. When I watched it, I saw the actors aging and becoming teens, dealing with darker topics. From the seven films, this is my favorite one.
